MA DE/LB Jake Byczko Commits to UConn

UConn Football received its seventh verbal commitment for the class of 2017 with the announcement of Massachusetts defender Jake Byczko.

Byczko held offers from New Hampshire and Rhode Island in addition to interest from Boston College, Syracuse, UMass and UCF, making visits to all of those schools.

Byczko is likely heading to UConn as a hybrid outside linebacker, similar to the role Luke Carrezola currently plays. He is the fifth defender currently committed to the Huskies, joining recent defensive back commit Ian Swenson, another hybrid end-type in New Jersey's Rob Saulin, linebacker Ryan Dickens, and Virginia defensive back Bebe Olaniyan. There are two commits on the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Jordan McAfee and tight end Ryan Fitton.
