D. J. Harvey usually doesn’t have to sweat much when it comes to basketball, but the five-star guard admits he will be a bit anxious as the cuts come Thursday afternoon for the USA U18 basketball team.

“It’s going pretty good, good competition,” Harvey said Wednesday night by phone from Colorado Springs, Co. “I’ve been playing pretty well.”

While Harvey has worked hard to make the cut the past few days for Team USA, prior to his arrival, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard from the Class of 2017 has been cutting down his future college choices.

The schools who made the most recent cut are Villanova, Duke, Louisville, Maryland, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas, UCLA, Arizona, and UConn. Coaches from three of those programs are with Harvey in Colorado Springs in U18 head coach Shaka Smart of Texas along with Mark Turgeon from Maryland and UConn’s Kevin Ollie.

The senior-to-be at DeMatha High in Maryland plans to cut that list even further by the end of the summer and Husky fans should be happy with that outcome.
